Karreem “Karr” Washington’s practice focuses in both complex commercial litigation and intellectual property. Mr. Washington has extensive experience in conducting trademark clearance searches, due diligence searches and reviews, and handling trademark, domain name, and copyright prosecution and maintenance matters in domestic and foreign jurisdictions, including international filings under the Madrid System. Mr. Washington earned his JD with a concentration in intellectual property law from the Cardozo School of Law’s renowned IP Law Department. Mr. Washington provides an array of legal services for the firm’s clients in the entertainment, start-up, and service industries, including drafting contracts, evaluating the strength of claims in anticipation of litigation, legal research, and extensive motion practice.
As a former performer with a successful acting career, Mr. Washington understands the dichotomy between art and commerce that many creative professionals must navigate. Consequently, Karr is in a unique position to counsel clients in the entertainment industry and offer services to clients based on his having first-hand experience in many of the sectors in which they seek to advance their careers, services, and products.
Mr. Washington has an M.F.A. from the Actors Studio Drama School and a B.A. from the University of Southern California.
Karr Washington is a member of both the New York City Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association (Intellectual Property Law Section). He is licensed to practice in the State of New York and the State of Texas.
